Haddington is the county town of East Lothian, one of Scotland’s best-preserved Georgian burghs — a planned grid of handsome streets around Court Street and the High Street, the medieval St Mary’s church by the Tyne, and a tight conservation core. Around it spread the farms and country houses of the fertile Lothian plain. Much of the town is listed or in a conservation area, and standards are high.
We handle period interior decoration, exterior work, sash-window repainting and heritage finishes for exactly this kind of property. Same foreman from first visit to final walk-round, daily clean-up, and a fixed quote before we start.

Thank you, Borthwick! We had struggled to find a decorator that we felt happy with to repaint the outside of our late-Victorian Farmhouse, then I came across Borthwick Decorators.
Yes — much of the Georgian core is listed or conservation. We use breathable systems on older fabric, match period colours, and handle the consent paperwork conservation officers expect.
We do — farmhouses and country houses across the Lothian plain are a regular part of our Haddington work alongside the town itself.
Wherever the timber is sound — repair, repaint and draught-proof, replacing cills only where rot demands it.
Our HQ is in Edinburgh and we have served East Lothian since 1959. Haddington is a regular run — no separate travel charge, and the quote is the price.
Usually four to six weeks for residential work; listed work adds consent lead time, which we manage. We confirm the date when we quote.
